Assessment & Reporting

Pupils are formally assessed on FOUR occasions during the school year.

Assessment 1:  October (Class Test 1)

Assessment 2: December (Class Test 2)

Assessment 3: February (School Exams)

Assessment 4: April/May (Mock Exams for Years 11-14) or June (Junior School Exams)

Parents are encouraged to contact their son’s Form Teacher at any time, if they have any concerns or questions.  Parents are routinely kept informed of their son’s progress in the following ways:

  • Year 8 parents are invited to meet their son’s Form Teacher during the autumn term to discuss how he has settled into his new school.

  • Annual target setting interviews between the pupil, parent and Form Teacher take place EARLY in term 2 for all Year Groups. These interviews allow a review of each pupil’s progress and an opportunity to identify areas where improvement is required.  These areas are included in an Individual Action Plan for each boy to encourage him to focus on improvement.

  • Parents will receive information on their son’s progress on four occasions during the school year.  Two ‘Progress Reports’ which will show the grade or level the pupil has attained in his assessments will be made available through Parent App.  A detailed written report which includes specific feedback from subject teachers about how the pupil can improve is produced after the School Exams in February.  The final report is a printed summary overview of all the assessment grades achieved over the course of the year.
