National Space Academy

Mrs Hawthorne spent Wednesday of last week breaking records in Exeter. Through her work with the National Space Academy, Mrs Hawthorne was asked to deliver a lesson on Newtons Laws of Motion and the science of space flight to 3 groups of 550 students -1650 in total in the Big Bang South West Science festival! This was the biggest ‘proper’ lesson in the UK. Other events will present to larger numbers, but this was a real lesson with distinct learning sequences, mini plenaries, active learning and questioning. She even set them homework!

In a quote from the National Space Academy they say
"Mrs Hawthorne's outstanding contribution reflects on the standard of teaching within the school and the National Space Academy are proud to be associated with Belfast Boys’ Model School"
