To celebrate World Book Day 2019 and promote reading for pleasure, we had lots of activities going on around school. The boys made Winnie the Pooh ‘honey buns’ in HE, read in Maths and English, found hidden Golden Tickets and got some lovely treats at break time! They also listened to Peter and the Wolf in Music lessons, where the story was read and they listened to the music.
The staff also got involved with many dressing up as a book character. We had Professor McGonagall, Hermione Granger, Alice in Wonderland, Mary Poppins, Queen of Hearts, Fantastic Mr Fox, Miss Trunchbull, Where’s Wally, Katniss Everdeen, and Mr Willy Wonka!
Each boy has now a World Book Day book to keep and read at home. Reading is so beneficial for academic success as well as good mental health. ‘Reading is Power’, World Book Day 2019.
