NI Centenary Tree Planted at Boys’ Model School

North Belfast DUP MLA William Humphrey MBE officially planted a tree marking the Centenary of Northern Ireland at the Belfast Boys’ Model School on 16th December 2021.

Pictured with Mr Humphrey at the event are School Principal Mary Montgomery and Vice-Principals Olwen Black, Judith McCracken and Dawn Farquhar.

William Humphrey commented, “As an old boy of the school, it is a tremendous honour and privilege for me to be invited to plant this tree, marking the Centenary of our wee country. The Northern Ireland Centenary is an important milestone in our history, and one that is important to mark and to celebrate.”

The Italian Alder (Alnus cordata) tree was supplied by the Northern Ireland Office, as part of an initiative through which NI Centenary trees were offered to all schools in Northern Ireland. The tree will be supplemented by a commemorative plaque from the Ulster Scots Agency.
