The Year 11 pupils are currently training for the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award. There are four sections to the award: expedition, skills training, volunteering and physical.
The boys complete the expedition section from school and complete the other sections in their own time. For the expedition section, pupils have to learn how to use maps and route cards to navigate their way through mountain areas and trails.
Training walks take place on Cavehill, Black and Divis Mountain and the Mourne mountains. Participants have to learn how to cook for themselves outside and camp out as a group overnight.
