Year 10s were treated to Belfast City Council’s Litter Lab Science Show on Wednesday afternoon.
Scientific Sue from Science2Life took the boys on a journey through the scientific world of litter including dog poop, used nappies, chewing gum and polystyrene cups. They learned how their discarded litter affects wildlife, pollutes water supplies and can affect the health of humans as well as being unsightly.
Sue explained how scientists are working on solutions such as biodegradable chewing gum and how to reduce, reuse and recycle everyday objects.
